Pupils with an interest in construction careers benefited from a visit to a local building site, courtesy of Claymore Homes.
Six pupils from Meldrum Academy visited a working construction site to get an overview of the housebuilding process and the different roles involved. During their time there, they were able to view foundation works.
The Site Manager from Claymore Homes also talked them through the methodology of building a house.
The pupils - all of whom have an interest in the construction sector - asked questions during their visit. They are keen to return to the site to gain further experience and insights.
There may be further opportunities for pupils to visit the site as the housing development progresses. This will allow them to to witness the full range of activities involved with housebuilding, such as joinery, electrical work, roofing, painting and decorating, and landscaping.
A real-world project for S3 pupils culminated in a Sustainability Festival supported by local and national organisations.
