A day spent at AquaTerra Training provided Mackie Academy pupils with skills and knowledge they could apply across a number of different career roles and industry sectors.
Pupils from Mackie Academy visited AquaTerra Training to participate in training on Working at Height and Confined Space Entry. The aim of the activity was to expose senior pupils to a full day of tuition from professional instructors, allowing them to gain an insight into the type of training that is required to work in various industry sectors. The training day took place in AquaTerra Training's purpose-built facility in Kintore.
Pupils gained experience of what is like to be a delegate on a professional training course.
In addition to peforming practical tasks, they gained knowledge about risk assessments and personal protection equipment (PPE).
The pupils who attended had interests in various career pathways, including energy, fire and rescue and becoming a tree surgeon.
The training was relevant to all of them and will be a useful addition to their CVs and future job applications.
A real-world project for S3 pupils culminated in a Sustainability Festival supported by local and national organisations.
