GRAHAM been awarded the contract to build the new Baird & Anchor project at the Foresterhill Health Campus with the construction phase due to start in early 2021.

The construction firm is looking to recruit an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, with the job description surmised below, as well as an Apprentice Site Engineer which can be viewed here.

Summary: As the GRAHAM business continues to grow and develop, they are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Quantity Surveyor. The successful candidate will be based on the NHS Grampian Baird & Anchor project providing support to our Commercial team whilst studying on a day release basis.

Job description
The Trainee Quantity Surveyor (QS) shall be responsible for:

  • Assisting with re-measurements on site for labour-only and sub-contract payments.
  • Attending Sub-contract pre-appointment meetings;
  • Sub-contract management including the checking and processing of labour-only and sub-contract payments.
  • Assisting in the preparation of interim valuations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Preparation and issuing of sub-contract documentation to sub-contractors.
  • Maintaining live costs of selected works.
  • Liaising with Engineers for records of labour, plant & materials.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Trainee Quantity Surveyor (Building) and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

Personal specification
Technical Competencies - Essential:

  • Demonstrate a strong desire for the role
  • Demonstrate an ability to work on own initiative.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Minimum HNC Quantity Surveying or
  • A minimum of four Highers. With at least two Highers at grade B or higher. Various grade combinations from Highers and Advanced Highers will be considered.
  • Nat 5 English and Mathematics are essential at; Higher English and Mathematics are preferred
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry Experience within the Construction Industry

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry Experience within the Construction Industry
  • Experience within the Construction Industry
