Life at work at Lochside Academy

Overview

An interactive session led by industry representatives from Wood, aimed at preparing senior pupils for real-world challenges and future career opportunities.

Results and effectiveness

This interactive session was designed as part of the Personal & Social Education curriculum at Lochside Academy. It aimed to give pupils an insight into the expectations of an employer, as well as providing them with information about different career paths and learning opportunities.

All S5 and S6 pupils took part in the session, which covered topics such as:

  • Getting ready for the world of work
  • Self-management
  • Making considered choices
  • Balancing physical, mental and financial wellbeing
  • Making good habits part of your daily routine.

Additional benefits

The session was delivered in a fun and engaging way for pupils. A game of heads and tails was used to gauge pupils answers to various career conundrums. This encouraged lots of lively interaction, as winners and prizes were allocated.

The activity also formed part of a new influencing partnership arrangement between Wood and Lochside Academy.
