A week-long series of coffee conversations provided an opportunity for Oldmachar Academy pupils to chat with representatives from key industry sectors.
Over the course of a week, senior pupils had the chance to meet and talk with industry professionals from the sectors that reflected their career aspirations. They were able to chat with them about their career pathways, the companies they work for, what a typical day in the job entails and how the skills they are developing in school connect with the world of work.
The days were themed as follows:
The sessions provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop their understanding of their chosen sectors, by allowing them to learn about real-world career journeys and expectations. By talking directly with industry representatives, they gained an awareness of the different pathways into jobs and associated skills requirements.

The coffee conversations, which were also supported by Oldmachar Academy's Business Community Support Officer (BCSO), helped to strengthen school-employer partnerships. They also allowed pupils to gain confidence and inspiration around career planning, along with the chance to develop their networking skills.
"It was an excellent morning and gave me a new enthusiasm for my work and my career."
Sustainability, speed networking and entrepreneurial skills were all on the menu at Kemnay Academy's Young Enterprise Business Breakfast.
S6 pupils from Mearns Academy gained their first experience of an assessment centre during an off-site day hosted at Norwood Hall Hotel.
