Anything HR Ethics in the Workplace

Overview

This session helped pupils from the S2 year group explore some of the ethical dilemmas faced in three very different workplace settings: nature conservation, people management and AI for business.

An industry professional from each of the three areas led a workshop. Pupils were asked to brainstorm solutions to real-world ethical dilemmas, and consider the different moral and legal factors in each case.

The exercise demonstrated that answers are not always clear cut, or easily categorised as right or wrong.

Results and effectiveness

The session was made available to the entire S2 cohort, enriching their classroom learning on the subject. The involvement of industry professionals from varying backgrounds provided pupils with an insight into different job roles and sectors, while demonstrating that ethical dilemmas exist in many types of work.

Additional benefits

The workshop format and brainstorming element of the session encouraged pupils to use and develop a variety of skills, including creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and communication.

"A great format. It was enjoyable working with the S2 pupils."
