Overview

The aim of this activity, which ran over three days with different pupil cohorts, was to allow the school's most senior pupils to have in-depth discussions with employers who are working in their career areas of interest.

The three themed mornings gave the young people the chance to speak with employers from:

  • Health and social care
  • Business and finance
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) disciplines.

The pupils, who were sub-divided into small groups each day, rotated round the room, spending 10-15 minutes at each industry representative's table.

Results and effectiveness

Feedback indicated that the activity was hugely beneficial. It demonstrated how valuable it is for pupils to have access to a variety of industry representatives from the same sector.

Additional benefits

Several of the industry representatives who participated extended an invitation to the young people to visit their place of work.

If taken, this opportunity stands to further deepen the pupils' knowledge and understanding by allowing them to experience the working environment.

"We had a great time! Thank you for having us."
