SDS advisers took calls to the 0808 100 8000* number from across Scotland. Common themes of the support being sought include understanding how the results will impact on planned choices, exploring a wider range of options, accessing clearing and the appeals process.

One third of calls made to the Helpline so far have come from parents and carers and a large number of other calls have been about results received by sixth year pupils.

Around 138,000 pupils received their National, Higher and Advanced Higher results today. SDS’s dedicated Results Helpline will be available from 8am to 8pm on 5th August and from 9am until 5pm on weekdays until 12th August.

James Russell, Skills Development Scotland’s director of career information, advice and guidance operations, said: “Our message is don’t worry, our advisers are there to reassure people that they always have options and opportunities to consider before deciding on their next steps.”
