The Build Your Future 2020/21 heats are set to commence on November 30.

The aim of the challenge is to raise the profile of the construction industry to S2 pupils, parents, and teachers, and to highlight the range of exciting and rewarding career opportunities there are out there. Last year the challenge was a huge success and feedback showed that pupils and teachers came away with a better understanding of what a career in construction looks like, and hopefully a bit of inspiration to pursue a career in construction in the future.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, it was not possible to run the challenge in the same way in 2020. The organisers and sponsors of the event felt, however, that it was important to continue promoting the opportunities within the construction industry and to bring the Build Your Future construction challenge to pupils again this year. The heats will run virtually next week, and the final is due to take place virtually on January 28, 2021.

BYF is supported this year by main sponsors Barratt Homes and Halliday Fraser Munro, as well as supporting sponsors Stewart Milne Group, Grampian Construction Training and Glulam Solutions. The initial heats will see the pupils taking part in virtual tasks set by Halliday Fraser Munro, Safety Scotland and Leiths Group.

For schools who wish to take part in the challenge, but may not manage week commencing November 30, there have been two more dates released for the initial heats. These heats will run 9.45am – 12noon on Tuesday, December 8 and Tuesday, December 15. There is also still some availability left next week.
