DYW North East vice chair joins judging panel

DYW North East's vice chair Allison Carrington joins the judging panel of the Young Enterprise Grampian regional final.

DYW North East’s vice chair Allison Carrington will be helping identify the budding entrepreneurs of the future next week when she joins the judging panel at the Young Enterprise Grampian regional final.

The four finalists in the annual programme; Peterhead Academy, Hazlehead Academy, Lochside Academy and OldMachar Academy will battle it out on Tuesday, April 23 to win a place representing the region in the forthcoming Scottish finals. These young entrepreneurs from schools across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire have created and run their own companies for a school year and have faced challenges, solved problems and experienced the highs and lows of any real-world business owner.

As judge, Allison will hear presentations from each of the four teams; as well as being given the chance to share some of her experience and advice.

“This is a fantastic initiative. It encourages students to be creative and aspirational with their thinking whilst giving them a feel for what is involved in setting up a business,” said Allison.

“I’m honoured to have been asked to be part of the judging panel and can’t wait to hear about what the teams have learned over the last 12 months. I hope that regardless of who wins, they all come out with a good understanding of the world of commerce and great ambitions for the future.”
