As a young person, what was your aspirations growing up?
Horse Racing Jockey but I like my food too much!
What pathway did you follow when you left school?
Worked in recruitment for a Summer, went to university to study management with marketing and rode out for a local racehorse trainer during that time.
What are you most excited about getting stuck into in your new role?
Building relationships with our partners in the schools and being able to help during this stressful time.
How crucial do you think the link is between schools and employers?
Essential. Not only does it improve employability for the students but develops a talent pipeline for the employers.
What do you think is the greatest benefit to employers that are involved with DYW?
Often it inspires and motivates their staff. They feel like they are connecting with the local community and making a difference which can then improve productivity in return.
Do you have a motto or personal mantra that you live by?
Finding Nemo – “Just keeping swimming”.
What would be your one piece of advice to 12-year old you?
You are going to make mistakes, it is a given but as long as you learn from them, everything can be a learning experience.
